How the implant process works at our office
Most patients ask the same first question: how long does this take? For a single implant with healthy bone, the usual answer is three visits over about four to six months. The waiting is not idle time — it is the period when bone integrates with the implant, and it is what makes the result last.
- Consultation and 3D CT scan. We check bone height and width, the position of the sinus and nerve canal, and the health of the surrounding gums. You leave this visit with a written treatment plan and a cost estimate.
- Placement (and bone grafting if needed). The implant is placed under local anaesthesia. If bone volume is short, grafting is done at the same appointment, with PRF prepared from your own blood.
- Healing. Roughly three to six months, depending on whether grafting was involved and on which jaw is treated. Upper back teeth generally take longer than the lower jaw.
- Final crown. An impression is taken and the permanent crown is fitted and adjusted for your bite.
What affects the cost of an implant
There is no single price for a dental implant, and any office that quotes one before looking at a scan is guessing. The figure depends on:
- Whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is required — this is the largest single variable
- How many teeth are being replaced, and whether they are adjacent
- The crown material chosen for the visible restoration
- Whether existing gum disease needs to be treated first
- What portion your dental insurance covers — our staff verifies this before you commit

Frequently asked questions
Am I too old for dental implants?
Age itself is rarely the deciding factor. Bone quality, gum health and general medical condition matter far more, and many of our implant patients are in their sixties and seventies.
I was told I do not have enough bone. Is that the end of it?
Usually not. Bone grafting and sinus lift procedures are specifically designed for this situation, and a second opinion with a 3D CT scan is worth having before you accept that implants are impossible.
Does the procedure hurt?
The placement itself is done under local anaesthesia. Mild swelling or discomfort for a few days afterwards is normal and is managed with prescribed medication.
Can I be treated in Korean or Chinese?
